Resilient Communities

About Us

This video shows another community adopting some of the strategies for resilience.

Community Resilience Networks are a way of increasing local area connectivity and robustness.

Using a network of Area Contacts we connect with neighbours in person, by phone, social media or in other agreed ways well in advance of (and during) times of challenge or emergencies, so that we have the means to respond quickly and support each other in times of duress.

Regional Location

The 'Minyon' Network Region

This area shows the approximate outline of the region we are currently covering as part of the Minyon Resilience Network.

Click the map to open a new tab with a zoomable live map. You can zoom right in to find the exact boundaries (which are still being refined).

In terms of roads, it includes all of Upper Coopers Creek Rd (and offshoots), Minyon Falls Rd including the loop around to Nightcap Range Rd, Repentance Creek Rd from Mafeking to Rosebank, Emersons Rd and offshoots.

If you live in this region and want to know who is your Area Contact, please get in touch on the email below. If you are adjacent to this region and want to know if you can join our network, also do get in touch.

Network Structure

The Area Contacts (AC’s) have robust connectivity to the Primary Contact (PC) who is in direct contact with emergency services, such as SES, Red Cross, Fire Dept, etc.

This simple communication tree enables a deeper capacity to respond to local area situations as they emerge.

Networking Our Community

In essence the CRT is a communication and networking system aimed at building linkages within the community prior to challenges, which are then able to respond more effectively during times of duress.

A more effective chain of communication ensures that the maximum number of our local community are informed and accounted for as needed.

The Resilience Network is also part of a larger group of NSW CRTs and as such, will be able to access and leverage support services, grant opportunities and community led initiatives in order to achieve better access to resources, training and networking.
